Objective
Players are divided into two main teams: Villagers and Werewolves. The goal is for the villagers to identify and eliminate all werewolves, while the werewolves aim to eliminate villagers until they equal or outnumber them.
Roles
- Villagers: Try to discover and eliminate the werewolves. They don’t have special powers but use discussion and voting to identify suspects.
- Werewolves: Secretly eliminate a villager each night without being detected. They also attempt to mislead the villagers during the Day Phase, concealing their identity.
- Seer: Each night, the Seer can learn the role of one other player. The Seer must decide when and how to share this knowledge without becoming a target for the werewolves.
- Doctor: Can protect a player each night from being eliminated by the werewolves. The Doctor can choose to protect themselves.
- Hunter: A special villager who gets one final act of revenge when eliminated. Upon their death at night, the Hunter can immediately shoot and kill any other player of their choice. The Hunter must carefully observe the gameplay to maximize their impact.
- Highlander: Villager-aligned role who cannot be killed at night by the werewolves. The Highlander can still be eliminated by votes during the day.
Game Phases
The game alternates between two main phases: Night and Day.
1. Night Phase
- Werewolves Eliminate: Werewolves secretly choose one villager to eliminate.
- Seer’s Vision: The Seer chooses one player to reveal their role.
- Doctor Protects: During the night phase, the Doctor selects one player to protect from elimination. If the werewolves target the protected player, the elimination is prevented.
- Hunter’s Mark: If the Hunter is eliminated during the night, they can take one other player down with them.
- Highlander’s Resilience: The Highlander cannot be killed during the night phase and survives any werewolf attack.
Once all actions are complete, the Moderator announces the night’s results, revealing if any villagers were eliminated.
2. Day Phase
- Discussion: All players (villagers and werewolves alike) discuss who they suspect is a werewolf, trying to persuade others and share suspicions.
- Voting: Players vote on who they believe is a werewolf. The player with the most votes is eliminated from the game.
After the vote, the game proceeds to the next Night Phase.
Winning the Game
- Villagers Win if they eliminate all werewolves.
- Werewolves Win if they outnumber or equal the remaining villagers.
Strategy Notes
- Hunter: Should closely observe discussions and interactions to identify likely werewolves for their final action. They can sway the game even in death.
- Seer: Use subtle hints during discussions to steer villagers toward suspected werewolves without exposing your identity. For example, challenge a werewolf's reasoning or draw attention to their inconsistencies rather than outright claiming your vision.
- Doctor: Balances protecting themselves and other critical roles (e.g., Seer) based on the game flow. Effective use of protection can buy villagers crucial time.
- Highlander: Should use their immunity strategically to guide discussions and help identify werewolves without revealing their role prematurely, as they may become a target during the voting phase.
