These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of jovly.com, our game rooms, and all related features (together, the "Service") provided by Jovly Inc. ("Jovly", "we", "us", or "our"). By accessing or using Jovly, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Who can use Jovly
You may use Jovly only if you can form a binding contract with us and are not barred from doing so under applicable law. You must be at least the age of digital consent in your country (generally 16 in the EU, 13 in some other regions) to create an account. The "Meet new people" matchmaking features are for adults only: you must be at least 18 years old to use them.
2. Accounts and guests
- You can play as a guest without an account, or create a registered account through our authentication provider.
- You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
- You must provide accurate information, especially in a matchmaking profile, and keep it up to date. Impersonation, fake profiles, and misrepresenting who you are ("catfishing") are prohibited.
3. The Service
Jovly lets people play real-time social games — including Werewolf, Doodle Dash, and Imaginaria — together, optionally over an embedded video conference. Jovly offers two ways to play:
- Play with friends — create a room and invite people you know, ad-hoc or scheduled.
- Meet new people — build a profile and let Jovly match you with compatible players and organize games for you.
We may add, change, or discontinue games and features at any time.
4. Matchmaking and meeting other people
If you use the matchmaking features, you understand and agree that:
- Jovly organizes game sessions with people you may not know. We match players based on the profiles, preferences, and availability everyone provides.
- Matches are suggestions only. We do not guarantee that you will be matched, that any match will be compatible, or that any friendship, relationship, or other outcome will result.
- We do not conduct background checks on players. You are responsible for how you interact with others.
- Interacting with people online carries risk. If you choose to communicate outside Jovly or to meet another player in person, you do so entirely at your own risk. Use good judgment, protect your personal information, and take sensible safety precautions.
- You can block or report any player at any time, and blocked players will not be matched with you again.
5. Code of conduct
To keep Jovly safe and welcoming, you agree not to:
- harass, threaten, bully, stalk, or discriminate against other players;
- post or share hateful, sexually explicit, violent, illegal, or otherwise objectionable content, including in profiles, drawings, clues, or messages;
- solicit money, send spam, advertise, or use the Service for any commercial or fraudulent purpose;
- impersonate anyone, create fake or misleading profiles, or misrepresent your age or identity;
- attempt to contact, groom, or match with minors, or use the Service if you are below the required age;
- cheat, exploit bugs, disrupt gameplay, or interfere with other players' experience;
- attempt to access accounts, data, or systems without authorization, or reverse-engineer, scrape, or overload the Service.
We may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
6. Your content
You retain ownership of the content you create on Jovly (such as drawings, clues, messages, and profile information). By submitting content, you grant Jovly a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and process it as needed to operate and provide the Service (for example, showing your drawing to other players or your profile to matched players). This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for content already shared with other players or that we must retain for legal or safety reasons.
You are solely responsible for the content you submit and confirm you have the right to share it.
7. Payments and subscriptions
- Some features may require payment or a subscription. Prices and what is included are shown before you purchase.
- Payments are processed by Stripe; by paying, you also agree to Stripe's terms.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date. You can cancel at any time, effective at the end of the current billing period.
- Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable. Where a statutory right to a refund or withdrawal applies, we will honour it.
8. Intellectual property
Jovly and its games, software, logos, designs, and content (excluding user content) are owned by Jovly Inc. or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for its intended purpose. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our permission.
9. Third-party services
The Service relies on third parties, including Amazon Web Services (hosting and authentication), Stripe (payments), Jitsi (video), and OpenAI (similarity scoring for Doodle Dash). Your use of these features may also be subject to those providers' terms. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.
10. Suspension and termination
You may stop using Jovly and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access — with or without notice — if you violate these Terms, create risk or legal exposure for us or other users, or if we discontinue the Service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (such as Sections 6, 8, 11, 12, and 13) will survive.
11. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. Jovly does not warrant the conduct, identity, or compatibility of any player and is not responsible for interactions between users, online or offline.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Jovly and its officers, employees, and partners will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of — or inability to use — the Service, or from your interactions with other users. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Jovly harmless from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms or the rights of others.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable at Jovly Inc.'s place of incorporation, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live. We will try to resolve any dispute informally first — please contact us before taking formal action.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of Jovly after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
